Summer Service Camp – Day 5
Last day of our week of summer service camp! We are always torn because we know we have almost made it through this very tiring, but very inspiring week of hard work, BUT we have been having so much fun, we hate to see it end. So we ended it with a full day at The Vashti Center.

Vashti is a resource for youth and families in crisis. We are all just people trying our best. We all experience good times and bad times. Thankfully, there are resources, such as Vashti, that can help during challenging times. We spent the morning getting to know some of the youth and creating friendships through fun icebreakers and field day activities.
After a lunch of hot dogs and hamburgers and delicious ices thanks to our super Board Members, we joined together to tackle a beautification project:
removing old and rotting picnic tables
- rebuilding and painting new picnic tables
- clearing and landscaping a reflection garden
- installing and painting new benches in the garden
- creating and installing birdhouses and positivity rocks.
In a few hours, thanks to the amazing teamwork of both campers and Vashti kids, what was an overgrown and unusable area is now a place where people can eat, study, hang out and meditate in nature. It was a wonderful way to end our week!
Special thanks to these Diamond Level & above Sponsors, The Thomasville Antiques Show Foundation, and all of our donors and sponsors for making volunteer programs and events like these possible.
