More than 1400 volunteers participated in the 10th Annual Hands On Thomas County Day on October 19, making it the largest volunteer event ever in Thomas County. With more than 60 project sites to choose from, everyone – big, small, young and old – had a chance to make a positive impact in our community.
In just one morning of service, citizens of Thomas County united to donate a whopping 5600+ volunteer hours to local non-profits and community agencies including Second Harvest, Birdsong Nature Center, Dancing Cloud Farm Horse Rescue, Habitat for Humanity, Halcyon Home, Hands & Hearts for Horses, Keep Thomas County Beautiful, Lives Without Limits, Miss Kitty Feline Sanctuary, Nepenthic Society, Red Cross, Rosehaven, Safe Haven, Thomasville Community Resource Center, Thomas Grady Service Center, Thomasville Landmarks, The Treehouse, Vashti and more.
The day culminated in a celebration luncheon at Cherokee Lake Park with music, games, face painting by Girl Scout Troop 40483, a blood drive with the OneBlood Mobile, a disc golf exhibition by Red Hills Disc Golf, delicious bbq lunch from Granddaddy’s, fellowship, fun, and of course, birthday cake in honor of HOTC’s 10th anniversary!
Thank you to all the non-profit agencies, volunteers and sponsors who made hotc day possible. It was a great day of fellowship and hard work on behalf of the community. We are very proud Thomas County! Thanks for making our 10th anniversary so special.
