Students Hands On Thomas County
Volunteering For All Ages
Student Hands On Thomas County (SHOTC) gives school-aged youth (grades 5th through college) the resources to make community service a part of their everyday lives. We believe in fostering a legacy of volunteerism starting with our future leaders and decision-makers.
- Take a look at the SHOTC flyer for student-appropriate volunteer opportunities.
- In March/April, registration begins for Project Impact Summer Service Camp where students grade 6-9 can earn up to 20 service hours for school in one week!
- Impact Outreach provides summer service opportunities to local youth organizations.
- While Impact ROI is an internship geared toward high school seniors and college students. A $3000 stipend is awarded for successful completion. You’re never too young to make a difference!
Please note: For safety reasons, all volunteers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Make volunteering a family affair!

Event Details
Change a child’s story! Never Lost is currently seeking compassionate individuals interested in helping to change the story for a child in foster care by volunteering as a Court Appointed Special Advocate® (CASA) in the CASA Kids Program. The CASA Kids volunteer program is generally a 12- to 18-month commitment to serve as a court appointed advocate for a child or young adult. After completion of a nationally-accredited training program, volunteers are appointed by a local judge to advocate for a child’s best interest in court.
As an advocate, you’ll get to know the child and caregivers on a personal level, observing health, safety, home care and emotional behaviors, and you’ll report your observations to the judge during the entirety of the child’s welfare case. Ideally, the end result for the child in your advocacy care is permanency in the preferred form of reunification with family, or through adoption or guardianship with a relative.
If you are interested in becoming a CASA volunteer, please call (229) 225-4338 for more details. You may also fill out the volunteer form online.
