Project Impact 2018 – Day 5
Day 5 – our last day of camp. After a week-long schedule full of volunteer activities, it’s safe to say we were ready to relax during the weekend. This group of campers will certainly be missed as they were always ready to go and do good. It’s our hope they each found something to be passionate about and will continue to do good long after camp is finished.
Our theme for the day was reaching out. Sometimes volunteering can be as easy as reaching out to a neighbor or a friend. That morning, we made it our goal to make a new friend (or two) when we visited Legacy Village, an assisted living facility. We were greeted with smiles and hugs as soon as we walked in the door. Many of the campers went right to work creating a quilt with help from the residents. This activity was used as an icebreaker tool to learn more about one another. Other campers worked outside planting flowers, sweeping the patios, and washing the van. We even got to play a game of Bingo – a favorite for all! By the end of the morning, our goal was complete and we’re hopeful the campers will return to visit their new friends in the future.
After lunch at the Park and Amphitheater, we celebrated the end of the day at Doug’s Roll-A-Rink. The boys and girls did a wonderful job helping each other onto the rink! They also played arcade games, air hockey and did the limbo on skates! It was quite exciting to watch! Make sure to take a look at the pictures below.
We are so thankful for all the non-profits we visited this week and for allowing us to serve. A big thanks to the parents and campers for making it such a great week! We hope to see all of you volunteering in the community again soon.
