Mondays are often difficult to wake up to, but add the following to your Monday to-do list:
1) build a house
2) sort thousands of pounds of food…
Phew! That was Monday, and our first day of Project Impact Summer Service Camp. Campers crossed all of those items off their list with smiles and energy to spare! Today’s theme was Human Services – serving the organizations that serve the housing and hunger needs for people in our community.
Our morning was spent with Habitat for Humanity working at a house site on Bartow Street in the Victoria Place Urban Revitalization Area. This house will one day be occupied by a deserving family, and these kids can say they helped make it happen. Be sure to drive by and take a look at the results. It is a super cute house…your kids will know which one.
The afternoon was spent at the Second Harvest warehouse where they sorted through thousands of pounds of food that will be distributed to families in need in south Georgia.
