Hurricane Michael hit our area hard. Many senior citizens and low income families – particularly those who are not normally eligible for food stamps – have the opportunity to apply for assistance under a temporary program called D-SNAP (Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program). Learn more here.
DFCS expects to see a surge of senior citizens and others who are low income apply for assistance.
Volunteers are greatly needed to help with the following:
- crowd & traffic control
- remind those in line they must have a photo id/proof of address
- relay messages to those in line
- assist with registration forms
You can volunteer for two hours, a half day, a full day… whatever your schedule allows.
To sign up as a volunteer, please call Roxanne Walker at (229) 227-3126.
