Join Thomasville Landmarks as they host the Georgia Trust of Historic Preservation’s Spring Ramble – April 12-13. Georgia Trust Rambles feature exclusive tours and social events in historic properties not usually open to the public. Tours of historic homes and buildings are self-guided, and guests provide their own transportation. Maps and programs are provided at packet pick-up. These trips attract hundreds of participants per Ramble and they need your help!
Volunteers are needed in the four categories to help make this event a success:
- Greeter: A Greeter will be stationed at the entry of each home and will monitor the entry and exit of guests. Greeters will act as each home’s host and must be must be welcoming, friendly, and hospitable. Greeters should be comfortable interacting with the public, providing guidance on Ramble destinations and promoting Thomasville’s attractions.
- Docent: Docents will be stationed throughout the homes and available to answer questions about the house and community. Docents must be welcoming, friendly, and hospitable.
- Sales/Registration: Volunteers will be responsible for completing sales transactions so they must be comfortable handling money. Technology skills are a plus for operating payment processing software!
- Logistics: Help us keep the Ramble running smoothly! Behind the Scenes helpers must be able to lift or carry heavy items (like cases of water and tables) and be detail oriented. These positions are best suited to those who prefer the logistical side of hospitality!
Volunteers are asked to dress business casual, arrive 20 minutes prior to shift start, and attend one training (see below).
Volunteer Training: March 21, 6-8pm or March 26, 2-4pm. Both trainings will be held at the Thomasville History Center. Volunteers are encouraged to attend one training that best fits your schedule to receive information about your assigned task, location, and the Ramble in general. If you are unable to attend a training, we are happy to speak with you individually at your convenience.
If interested, please submit a short volunteer application to Sophia or Amelia. You can also sign up online.
For questions, please call Sophia at (229) 226-6016 or Amelia at (229) 226-7664.
