Calling all locals who can paint, clean, remodel, remove carpet, pressure wash, plus more! Your help is needed at Gabriel Rising – a new non-profit in town whose primary mission is to provide an integrated network of programs, services and opportunities for mild to moderate intellectually and developmentally disabled adults (18–60) who cannot live independently but do not require more advanced medical or psychological care.
Volunteers are needed at the Old Southwestern State Hospital Campus (Rosehaven Building #215) on the following days and times:
- Thursday, June 2 from 9AM – 5PM
- Friday, June 3 from 9AM – 5PM
- Saturday, June 4 from 10AM – 4PM

Want to join a volunteer experience that allows you to work outside with animals and children? Hands & Hearts for Horses will hold a Volunteer Orientation that consists of gaining knowledge about our program, what we expect of volunteers, and how to do everything we need you to do! This is a great opportunity for families, friends, coworkers and church groups.
Recommended for ages 12+. No horse experience is necessary. Training Sessions are conducted rain or shine. Please wear sturdy footwear and barn appropriate clothing.

The Douglass High School Alumni Association (DHSAA) is pleased to sponsor the 3rd Annual Juneteenth Festival on Saturday, June 18 in partnership with the No More Shackles Empowerment Mentoring Program. Our goal is to educate everyone about African Americans’ freedom and achievements while encouraging continuous self-development and respect for all cultures. Learn more here.
This celebration is to create unity in the community, as well as to break pre-judgmental barriers about the origins of the African Americans’ path to freedom. This community-wide event will also offer a parade (at 10:00 am), a car & truck show, delicious food, vendors, local exhibitors, entertainment, and much more!
VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED FROM 12PM – 6PM TO HELP WITH:
- set-up and break-down
- children’s activities
- parking attendants

Project Backyard needs your help! They will be partnering with local service organizations, churches, and ministries in Thomasville to help organize and facilitate multiple service project opportunities throughout the Thomasville community. Whether you enjoy painting, distributing food, yard work, playing games with kids, or just getting to know someone you have never met before, there is a project for you.
All leaders and volunteers will meet at Project Backyard’s office at 9:30 a.m., where breakfast & coffee will be provided as well as important instructions for each project location. Make sure to bring $10 to cover the cost of your Project Backyard T-shirt. (Purchase of t-shirt is not required to volunteer.)
Once you sign up to serve, Project Backyard will send you an e-mail with all the details you need to know.
