SOWEGA Council on Aging/Retired Senior Volunteer Program
Plans, provides, develops and coordinates services for all people 60 years of age and older in a 14 county, 6,000 square mile area of southwest Georgia. Volunteers age 55 and older are encouraged to serve as the following:
– Exercise instructor
– Telephone Reassurance (calling program participants each weekday to check on their well-being and help identify concerns)
Individuals will need fill out a volunteer packet and consent form prior to volunteering. Once your packet and form is received, a SOWEGA representative will contact you to schedule a background/fingerprint check at a location convenient for you. You will also complete an orientation for general training.
