The Thomas County Historical Society invites you to deck the halls at the Lapham-Patterson House by decorating a complete Christmas tree (star to skirt), a mantle, or a tablescape. Decorations need to be in place by December 14 and will remain on display throughout the holiday season. You are welcome to reflect your organization or business in the decorations. Student groups can receive up to 3 hours for volunteering.

There are a few guidelines for the decorations:

  • Participants are asked to provide all materials necessary for their decorations including their own artificial trees, lights, extension cords, etc.
  • Decorations made from organic materials must be sustainable for the entirety of the holiday season: Dec.1-Jan.1 and require no maintenance from Society staff. This means no live trees, fresh fruits, or cut greenery or flowers please!
  • Participants are responsible for the set-up and breakdown of the displays in a timely manner.
  • Participants may be asked to complete a one-time “Loan Agreement” form provided by the Historical Society describing the items on display and any pertinent insurance information (if any).

If you are interested in participating, please e-mail Amelia or call (229) 226-7664.

*The public is invited to explore the Lapham-Patterson house and the holiday decorations between 5:00 pm -7:00 pm on Saturday, December 16. There will also be two readings of Twas the Night Before Christmas at the Lapham-Patterson House at 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm. This event is free and open to all.
