MLK Jr Service Day 2017

Join us for this national day of service on January 16 from 9am to noon, honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

 

On this day, Americans of every age and background celebrate Dr. King through service projects that reflect the basic tenets of his life’s work: eradicating hunger and poverty, ensuring education and safe housing for everyone, and empowering people to make a positive difference. Learn more here.

The following project sites are available for online registration:
Groups of 10 or more, pleases contact our office. Volunteers under the age of 16 MUST be accompanied by an adult.

Meigs Literacy Fair & Read-A-Thon
(recommended for all ages) 


Dress as a favorite book character and come read out loud!

Second Harvest
(recommended for ages 8+)

Habitat for Humanity
(recommended for ages 10+)

Book Drive
(recommended for all ages+) 

Donate a new (or VERY gently used – no writing or noticeable rips, bends, etc.) book that kids pre-school to high-school would love to read. Each book = 1 hour community service (limit 3). Bring to our new office at 120 East Monroe Street (we are usually here between 9am – 3pm, call first 226-5200) by 1/11.

Manna Drop
(recommended for ages 12+)

Help distribute food to neighbors in need.
